Coalition Against Trafficking in Women
The Coalition Against Trafficking in Women (CATW) is a non-governmental organization that promotes women's human rights by working internationally to combat sexual exploitation in all its forms. Founded in 1988, it was the first international organization to focus on slavery, especially of girls and women. It has regional networks in different parts of the world. A new CATW resource is a film by Marie Varmeiren called “Not For Sale”. It is a joint CATW-EWL project on prevention of trafficking. It follows the stories of five survivors of prostitution. Anti-Slavery International, founded in 1839, is the world's oldest international human rights organisation and the only charity in the United Kingdom to work exclusively against slavery and related abuses. We work at local, national and international levels to eliminate the system of slavery around the world by:
The Protection Project is a legal human rights research institute based at the School of Advanced International Studies of the Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC. The Project documents and disseminates information about the scope of the trafficking problem, with a focus on national and international laws, legal cases and the implications of trafficking in other areas of US and international foreign policy.
UNIFEM promotes women's empowerment and gender equality. It works to ensure the participation of women in all levels of development planning and practice and acts as a catalyst within the UN system, supporting efforts that link the needs and concerns of women to all critical issues on the national, regional and global agendas. The International Labour Organization (ILO) is devoted to advancing opportunities for women and men to obtain decent and productive work in conditions of freedom, equity, security and human dignity. Its main aims are to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue in handling work-related issues.
